One (often referred to as "1") is a number and the first number that doesn't go below 0.
Origin
The ancient group, allegedly known as Mayans established the number 1 as the 23rd letter of the alphabet. This was challenged by the congress, and soon they officially made it the 18th number of the Numberbet. Three years later, an unknown person challenged the citizens to make 1 the first number since it was their favorite number. The citizens, accepting this challenge, boycotted cheese for two minutes. It worked, and 1 became the first number. It's technically smaller than zero, but is placed ahead because 1 likes cutting in lines.

Weirdly enough, 1 isn't the first number. In fact, I don't know what is the first number on the entire numberline (probably negative infinity, but who knows? Numbers never end, not even negative numbers).
