We tend to write numbers in the decimal system (base 10), but there's another system some people like called dozenal (base 12). In dozenal, the number ten is often represented with the letter X as its digit, and the number eleven is often represented with Ɛ or E as its digit. You may remember this from the Schoolhouse Rock! song "Little Twelvetoes". So in dozenal, 862 can be written as 5ƐX! That's (5 * 144) + (11 * 12) + (10 * 1), which is 862. Pretty sweet, right?
