Dave + Dex is a collaborative studio album by Randomese rapper Lil Important and American rapper Famous Dex. It was released on October 15, 2021. The album features guest appearances from A$AP Rocky, Jack Harlow, yvngxchris, ZillaKami, SoFaygo, YNW Melly, and Polo G.
Background
Dave + Dex was originally announced on early 2020 in a Random Real Rap interview. Lil Important said the following when asked about upcoming projects; "yeah I got a lot of stuff I need to release, I got a couple of songs with Dex, actually screw that, we actually have an album together". Dex later confirmed this on his Twitter.
Apparently, the two have been working on the album shortly after the release of Important's mixtape Finally Happy. Due to their massive fame at the time, they did a few songs throughout 2015-2019, but made most of the songs during the COVID-19 pandemic, thankfully, none of the songs leaked and were kept secret.
The Dave + Dex Tour promoting the album was announced on October 9, and would last from October 22 to December 5.
On October 10, the album's lead single "Different" was released, and peaked number 9 on the Random-ness Music Hot 100, two days later the tracklist was released.
On October 22, 2021, the song "Fire/Water" (ft. ASAP Rocky) was released as a single.
