This page is related to the VHS Revolution home system which is an idea by Raichu's Endless Nights. Details about it are likely still being worked on.

UNRELATED TO THE MOVIE OF THE SAME NAME I HAD NO IDEA IT EXISTED UNTIL I SEARCHED IT

The VHS Revolution is a fictional home video format which is an idea by Raichu's Endless Nights. The idea has been with her since around 2018, while she was in middle school. The VHS Revolution format is a mix of the VHS and the DVD. It looks more like a VHS, but there isn't tape inside, instead the data reads from a big chip inside of it, which holds as much data as a DVD does and can support menus. Its purpose is to combine the nostalgia of VHS tapes with the utility of DVDs. The 'tapes' are still called VHS Revolution tapes despite the fact there's no tape inside, it just sounds natural.

In the Random Universe, this format co exists alongside other formats.

    Interface

The interface of the VHS Revolution is similar to a Wii, which is what it was inspired by, it can keep a memory of which tapes you've watched. When you insert one, it will recognise the name of the tape and will ask you if you want to go straight to the movie/episode selection or if you want to see the opening, which is sort of like Disney's FastPlay but is straight to the point and you have as much time as you want to choose. VHS Revolution tapes also have a closing built in. At the end of the movie/final episode on the tape, it will ask you if you want to return to the menu or see the closing. Just like the opening, you have as much time as you want to choose your selection. If you choose the closing, after it finishes you will be taken back to the main menu. The only part that cannot be skipped is the warning screen, which will display whichever option you pick - although it will stay on screen for less time if you choose to go straight to the movie. It's a bit more convenient than Disney's FastPlay.

    Features

The VHS Revolution Player has a few extra things that can be used on it, although it's first and foremost a home video player. It does not set out to replace any other system or machine, only as an extra to go along with them.

    • The first and obvious one is VHS Revolution playback.
    • The VHS Revolution supports SD cards and has two USB slots.
    • MediaMash - a media player where you can watch video files, listen to audio files, view pictures, and do basic editing for all of them, but not extensive. These can be read from either USB or SD card. It was named similarly to Meteor Mash Home Video, as they were the first backer of the VHS Revolution.
    • HyperTyper - a word editing programme where you can type whatever you want. It supports different page colours, images, fonts, most things other ones can do. You can open and save them from and to USB or SD card. It requires a USB keyboard to use.
    • GoAnimate DX - Essentially just GoAnimate on the VHS Revolution. Yes, this unfortunately leaves the door wide open for grounded videos, but it's highly discouraged on startup.

    Releases

The first company who backed the VHS Revolution was Meteor Mash Home Video, who are the distributors of titles like Nelvana Logo Bloopers, The Adventures of Microsoft Sam and Placeholder. Another company that is involved with them is Sun Beach Home Video. While they are not as well known as Meteor Mash Home Video, they are still important. Their titles include Midnight Wishes, The Scary Logo Collection and The Channel Shutdown Collection.

The different distributors are not enemies or even rivals. They simply work together without competing. In very rare cases, such as with the movie A Neon Night in Sunset City, the rights to distribute a certain title are exchanged between the VHS Revolution and DVD releases for certain reasons. In the aforementioned movie's case, the DVD version is distributed by Meteor Mash and the VHS Revolution version by Sun Beach. This also lead to a strange prototype DVD made between the time of the exchange where it featured a mix of both distributor's logos. The DVD has been dubbed the 'Meteor Beach Prototype'. Copies are extremely rare, but detailed descriptions and clips of the contents are available online.

The player is compatible with both Scart and HDMI cables, so it's compatible with either kind of TV.

List of colours the VHS Revolution Player is available in

The VHS Revolution Player is available in many different colours, and some have titles bundled with them. All of them have matte paint and are dust-resistant.

    Rainy Day Grey

    Jet Black

    Cloud Nine White

    Seafoam Green

Nebula Purple (various shades of purple dotted with white stars, bundled with Nelvana Logo Bloopers)

Home Feel Wood (made to look like the player is made of wood, bundled with The Adventures of Microsoft Sam)

Spray-paint Rainbow (Cloud Nine White with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple on it in a spray-paint effect, bundled with Placeholder)

Pre Release Bundle (looks exactly like Home Feel Wood, but is bundled with Nelvana Logo Bloopers and Placeholder in addition to The Adventures of Microsoft Sam)

    Misc. Notes

    • Both 'VHS Revolution' and 'the VHS Revolution' are considered grammatically correct.
    • VHS Revolution refers to the format in general, VHS Revolution tapes are the tapes themselves, and the VHS Revolution Player is the player, because VCR Revolution wouldn't make sense.
    • VHS Revolution tapes can play in 1080p on a TV that is compatible with it. If a TV isn't compatible, it will play in a lower quality.
    • VHS Revolution tapes cannot be copied, as the technology for them hasn't and can't be replicated. This means warnings on VHS Revolution versions of shows and movies don't mention copying, only the DVD versions.

How many VHS Revolutions are there?

Do you mean VHS Revolution tapes? So far I thought of 8 definite releases and a few others I'm not sure of yet.

    Yeah, that too.
Do you think there’d be actual movies/shows and RNW movies/shows on those tapes?
    -- TallAutism2006 (talk) 06:45, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

I'm considering it, yes, by third party companies. I'll make a page for it.

I'm not sure how you'd like it to look, and you have your own style for you drawings that's different from mine, so I was wondering if you'd like to draw the cover instead with my templates as it's your series really.

This actually sounds like a cool idea in real life, ngl i'd be pretty sick to see a VHSR of my show, The Cool and Collaborative Adventures of Steve
